NJ Audubon: The Tourne Field Trip
Field Trip led by Dave Oster, NJA Associate Naturalist
The Tourne is a Morris County Park located in Denville & Mountain Lakes. We will explore wooded trails adjacent to a large wetland area known as Rattlesnake Meadow. Although the trails skirt the Meadow they are normally "dry." The wooded areas are very good for Pileated Woodpecker and the Meadow often has Wood Duck and Great Blue Heron. A variety of raptors such as Bald Eagle, Red-Shouldered, and Kestrel may also be seen, as well as seasonal migrants. We expect to see kinglets, good warblers, and short-distance migrants.
