Family Program led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist
The Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary in Bernardsville, NJ, will hold a fun, science-based treasure hunt for families on Sunday, June 30, 2019 between 2:00pm and 4:30pm.
The hunt will search the fields, forests, and wet areas of the Sanctuary for the treasure of all the major groups of animals and plants on a checklist compiled and distributed beforehand by the program leader, Dorothy Smullen. Once back inside the Scherman Hoffman Learning Center, the group will have a chance to take a closer look at what they have found under the microscope.
Dorothy Smullen is a naturalist and former high school science educator. She was the President of the New Jersey Mycological Association and the Northeastern Mycological Federation. She received her MA in Biology from Brooklyn College, and in 2016 received the North American Mycological Association's 2016 Gary Lincoff Award for Contributions to Amateur Mycology.
